A recent article in the UK’s Guardian newspaper has highlighted how many of the challenges being faced by their health system (dominated by the NHS) can be addressed using telehealth techniques. To quote from the article:
“A report from the King’s Fund (Transforming the Delivery of Health and Social Care) recently stated that the health and social care delivery system has failed to keep pace with the needs of an aging population, the changing burdens of disease and rising patient and public expectations. It has been argued by government, hospital trailblazers and charitable organisations that remote care will play a key role in the hospital of the future. But I would argue that it’s time to stop waiting for the future: remote care has an important role to play right now. The mounting pressure on our health system must be addressed imminently.”
